Where design meets everyday life

In April 2026, Printworks became part of NOD, adding a new category shaped around everyday objects, social moments and a clear point of view on design. The company was founded in Stockholm in 2017 by Annette Gårdö and Patrik Westerdahl, following a simple but timely observation about how people live. As everyday life became increasingly digital, something was gradually lost: time spent together, shared moments, and the small rituals that give a home its meaning.

Rather than following that direction, they chose to move in the opposite one. Drawing on backgrounds in advertising, they began rethinking familiar objects with a different intent. Photo albums, games, puzzles, everyday pieces. Things people already had, but rarely thought about. Designed to be visible, to be used, and to belong naturally in the home. Not just functional, but part of the space.

Over time, that idea has travelled well. Today, Printworks is present in more than 70 markets and carried by thousands of retailers globally. The growth has been consistent, supported by a strong understanding of both product and brand, and by a team that has managed to scale the business without losing its identity. At its core, the ambition has remained the same: to make everyday objects more inspiring, more decorative, and more relevant in how people live today.

For NOD, this is where the connection becomes clear. The ambition has always been to bring together design-driven companies with a strong point of view, brands that know what they stand for and can grow with that clarity intact. Printworks fits naturally into that ambition, while also extending it. Where much of the existing portfolio is rooted in furniture and textiles, Printworks operates in a category closer to everyday use. These are objects that are part of how a home is lived in, not just how it looks. It broadens the perspective of what design in the home can be, without moving away from the core.

There is also a shared belief in what design can do. Not just how something looks, but how it works in real life. How it creates moments. How it brings people together. For Printworks, that philosophy has always been clear: creating gifts that keep on giving, analogue moments to hold close, and timeless pieces that bring people together.

Looking ahead, the direction is straightforward. Printworks will continue as its own company, with the same team, the same creative direction, and the same way of building. Within NOD, it becomes part of a wider context, a network of companies that develop alongside each other. They share knowledge while keeping their individual identities.

“Printworks is a brand we have followed since the very beginning of NOD. From early on, we were impressed by how quickly they managed to build something both strong and scalable, while staying true to a very clear design direction. There is a confidence in the brand, an exceptional team behind it, and a sharp understanding of how design fits into everyday life today. This feels like a very natural step for us, and we are truly excited about what we can build together going forward.” — Therese Hillman, CEO, NOD – Network of Design
